spinning, spinning… yes, more spinning…
… well, not exclusively spinning. Lots on the go these days.
…one of which is I will be on the floor of the DKC Knitter’s Frolic Marketplace this year, so I am dyeing mondo skeins and rovings until I look like yarn.
I am very excited! So, if you’re in the area (Toronto) on the 26th, I hope you will pop by and say hello. It will be quite a change of pace for me (much less quiet than my little home office, here, and it will be so fun to actually *talk* to folks verbally rather than via email ;)). I am bringing bunches of different yarns which I’m interviewing to become additions to my usual offerings so I will be looking for opinions on those. Look for BFL sockweight, merino-seacell sockweight and a yummy yummy laceweight merino (it’s my personal favourite at the moment) in addition to the usual Oceanwind Knits fare.

This will be with me at the show, too. A new shawl (currently still on the needles but approaching the last few rows).
The new shop is finally up! Quite a few new things on offer - semi-solid merino, spinning fibres/rovings and wheels.
Speaking of spinning… my goal, as a new spinner, has been to spin something (which looks and feels and acts like yarn) in different weights.
So here we have merino sportweight…

… wool-silk fingering…

and laceweight merino…

…which I actually feel good enough about to knit with (yay!).

I seriously don’t know what I did before spinning. Well, I do, but I am pretty happy to have finally added it to my ’stuff’ (Adminnie has been bugging me to get a wheel for oh, 5 or 6 years? maybe longer).
Spinning really helped to take the edge off the Canucks’ last few weeks of hockey… however, we are past that now, and looking ahead to Blue Jays season.
Anyhow… long post already. Happy spring! We finally have lawn again… it seems fairly novel at the moment, but I am hopeful it’s a sign of the future. :)
