yes, i am still on the planet…
Sometimes, barely, it feels like. Lately it’s just been a non-stop whirlwind of activity between filling orders and getting to the various arenas on time (we are in playoffs). Remembering to eat is novel and sleep feels like a privilege sometimes.
However [insert the feeling of first kindergarten show&tell moment here], I have this:

It’s a little tricky to photograph accurately due to the slight sheen. Superwash merino, from the blue roving I dyed up a little while ago (see previous entry below). And, I am now spinning on a Victoria, which is quite dreamy, actually… I really don’t know why I waited so long to try this whole spinning idea. Obviously I still have tons to learn (especially where plying is concerned) but all in all, I made yarn. Yay! I wound up with (after discarding barfy bits and making up a mini ‘practice’ skein) 86 g and about 150 yds.
There have been crazy bits of knitting ongoing as well. One of my current projects is this:

Don’t mind the colours - it’s made up of various leftover bits of fingering. This is a mini prototype of a shawl pattern. It’s going to be available exclusively via the Sweet Sheep sometime over the next few months.
And, yes the new shop will be up soon - and there will be all kinds of new goodies available (including rovings and other spinning goodies). :) I am quite anxious to get it over-with and in place; it’s one of those things which have to be re-evaluated after a certain point in time but not always easy to implement and it always seems to take longer than I think it will.
It appears spring is on the horizon around here. There are signs. Our backyard is now graced regularly with, in addition to our usual sparrows and chickadees, starlings, nuthatches, woodpeckers and robins. The snow is starting to melt, things are thawing (and our little shanty shed roof is leaking… bah). We are now on DST, which feels a little odd with all the white still covering the grass. There is now more pavement to drive on, though, which is a bonus.
I think, however, the most telling sign I’ve seen so far is the return of the ‘Venus’ razor TV commercials which are now more prevalent than the moisturizer commercials. ;) Spring must be on the way, eh?.
