lookie…

i’m not a huge fan of having my photo taken. however, scarves sometimes just need to be on a body to get that ‘real’ feel, ykwim?

so, short of draping it around hubby’s neck and taking photos, i put the camera in his hands and let him have a go at it wrapped around moi’s neck.

remarkably, not all of the pics are of me wearing a stern frown [i am only wearing a semi-stern look ;)]…

photos for the pattern, which should be online by next week (currently i am editing/publishing the printed version, but the PDF version will include charts so it will take a wee bit longer to publish) will not subject folks to any of these stern compositions ;).

anyhoo, not too often you will find me in pics so i thought i would share (and share one of my new designs :)). i like it, personally. :) i like earthy-type things, and green is a favourite colour of mine.

ok, i must fly, the young child Sam is hollerin’. ;)

You Belong in Fall
Intelligent, introspective, and quite expressive at times…
You appreciate the changes in color, climate, and mood that fall brings
Whether you’re carving wacky pumpkins or taking long drives, autumn is a favorite time of year for you
What Season Are You?

[i followed the link for this quiz from Wannietta's blog]

in my experience fall is usually when i get it together lol.

well, maybe not the year i had an emergency C-section in late September… ;)

yummy yarn is officially here…

well well…

considering i’ve got another stupid bug which is making me cough and feel quite poopered (and the little guy has it too and has kept us up some nights, poor dude) i am happy. yes, remarkably, maybe. it must be the change of climate and exposure to different viruses or something which is causing all of this silly stuff.

however, i’m happy. i’ve gotten quite a bit of work off the plate lately, and just this week, i got a new puter delievered to my door [not too soon, either; my former secondary hard-drive, the one where i tended to store a lot of things for work and such, went to hard-drive heaven within hours of extracting data off it... it was one of those 'oh my' moments where you are just ultra thankful that things didn't go differently] which has been just awesome to work with.

so we now have yarn up at OWK. not quite all of it yet, but it’s coming along. i recently gathered together bunches of new colours for dying and i’m quite keyed up to get going on those. however i have oodles of knitting to work on for a show next weekend and i need to be organized about that. [hopefully the grumpy knitter lady who griped that i didn't do proper sock heels like i 'should' won't be there to lend her two cents -- her thoughts were that if you did double sock heels you didn't need quality merino for socks, you could just use any old sock yarn, i guess...hey, to each their own... anyhow, i got a lecture, but i'm a big girl ;)]

pics:

OWK merino

a few of them are available on Etsy, which is down this weekend for new server migration and such.

it knits like a dream, buttery soft… i could knit with it all day (sometimes i do). i was very fussy (me? fussy? ha) in choosing a supplier and i’m very impressed with the quality of this merino. it’s very difficult for me to not want to keep it all for myself. ;)

i have a few more patterns on the way as well.

this one is up:

with any luck, i will get tons of felted stuff together for next weekend, as well as scarves.

we are off to the local Remembrance Day services in town today, which is going to be quite sombre given the amount of CAF deaths this year, some of them local to us here. :( as much as i’m not a fan of using war to supposedly solve political issues, i am proud of our soldiers and what they have done and are willing to do for us every day. and, i am very serious about having my kids know this…so we will remember and honour as a family and be grateful.
