new babies…
lookie, progress at last. :) and documented in photographic form… how novel, eh?

these are the new yarn babies. they are all spoken for, and part of an introductory line of merino sockweight, which i’ve had a really fun time working with (dyeing and knitting). they are dyed using several methods (kettle + hand-dyed accents) and this particular line has subtle variations of colour rather than huge blocks of handpaint…
they knit up like this :

…lots of nifty colours underlying the main shades which you probably can’t see here. the yarn is a wonderfully soft merino, i just love how it dyes and knits… like butter. took me a while to find a supplier but i am very happy with this stuff.
anyhow, i love my yarn, if i say so myself. not always having the space or safety of being able to set up the easel regularly, this is a bit of an ultimate creative outlet for me, combining painting with knitting… mmmm. :)
should be available in late September, officially. :) in between now and then i need to fit in a family vacation and a move across the country so i’m just a little bit swamped. but happy. :)
in other knitting news….

these are the ones i knit just for sanity (and because i can use some sox lol). they all fit me. :) the one on the very left still needs a pal, but the others have buddies (amazing; i have been prone to knitting sock widows in the past). all are DGB Confetti. the bright one on the left has cotton mixed in which has a very nice hand… silk-like, really and smooth.
anyhow, life here is a bit upturned; packing the house and making sure an almost two-yearold is happy and comfy between work and phonecalls… a bit insane, but i know by tomorrow afternoon i can sit on the ocean at Oyster Bay and chill, so i have that to cling to.
i may not get a chance to blog again before we move; so, in that case, wishing everyone a wonderful finish to summer and see you in the fall. :)
