there…

okie, we are getting places. :)

taxes… check.

pattern order… check.

web consult/preliminary template… check.

6 patterns on the needles… um, i’m knitting, i’m knitting… ;).

see?

ottawa knitted

one of em…the ottawa knitted (i can’t say what it is, but it will be off the needles shortly). :) absolutely love working with this stuff.

and here’s a peek at one which was simply a gift set for my new niece, but i’ve been convinced to draft the pattern and since i’ve presold several copies, i need to get crackin’ lol.

pinkie fixation...

cascade fixation, i think this is called shadow colours or something like that.

still have other webwork on the burner, plus i did kettle/handpaint dying on the weekend (mmm silk) and i’m really likin’ it on the needles in a big way.

one of my on the needles projects is a an appropriate tangerine-toned piece which i’ve been not very good about getting pics of… it’s next for pics, tho. tomorrow, tomorrow…

but here’s a shot of the top priority ongoing projects in the house:priority projects...

gotta catch the young fella whilst you get a chance… he doesn’t stop until he’s asleep.

oh, and i booked tickets, yay. i’m going to meet that lil niece of mine right shortly. :)

so, in between griping about OUR flag and honouring OUR fallen [makes the so-named Peace Tower seem a bit satirical, don't you think? -- the timing could not have been more dishonourable]…thank you Mr. Harper, you are most certainly an ass going on about honouring grieving family members and what is best for them, all the while not affording them what they requested: to share their grief with the rest of their country, and with other family members spread across the country… sheesh… ahem. but, really, what good does it do to gripe… sigh. …. and surmising about the next Canucks coach…

…i have been busy.

and i’m going to miss you Jane Jacobs, you always had much insight to share.

cycles…

you know how life rolls along in cycles? you know, like one week you have no time to eat or breathe, too much on the plate; next week, not much going on so you feel like you’re bumbling around just kind of bouncing off things, looking for something to bite into…

these days its like a mixture of both for me lol. there are so many things i would like / have to do but it’s just, for whatever reason, tricky to settle into any kind of a rhythm and i feel like i’m just zigzagging. not a whole lot to show for lil bits of this and that. i am definitely not slacking but evidence would show contrary.

odd energy about, too. maybe it’s just the spring air…

however, i am catching up on blogs/lists while i’m swatching, which is enjoyable.

maybe that’s it, i feel like i’m in perma-swatch land… i like documentable progress and so far what i have is mostly spreadsheets of extraneous info waiting to be co-ordinated into neat little knitted somethings.

i do have orange in one of the projects, which was actually coincidental related to Project Spectrum, but, hey, works for me. :) if we get some sun one of these days i will take progress pics… i hate flash photos… i really should fiddle with the flash setting on my camera to see if it can be softened. one of those little niggly things which kind of keeps photos on the backburner…

i am also, however, amidst the bumbling, really enjoying knitting up the Ottawa (prev post) which is past swatches so i shouldn’t complain… it’s a dream to work with and i love the whole texture/colour/organic kind of thing that’s going on. this colour reminds me of my Gramma’s geraniums… haven’t really thought about those in years so it’s a bit of a warm fuzzy knit [no pun *really*... it just typed out that way].

anyways, i am kinda sorta glad i’m not around for tonight’s Canucks/Sharks meetup. ;) i will be volunteering tonight for the CHHA at our local theatre… seeing Moon Over Buffalo… how novel, eh? an actual semi-social outing. ;)

hoping the little guy holds together while i’m out. he actually attended his first Knitting Club meeting last evening [ooh, another social outing, two in one week!] since i knew he would have crabbed the whole time i was out… bigtime separation anxiety, teething, growing, and he’s decided to quit his tutter cold turkey (no idea) which means he is looking for comfort from Mama far more than he usually does. did well at the meeting, a change of scene was a good thing. i didn’t knit much, but that’s ok.

anyhoo, tis it for the moment, in a nutshell…

gooey…

i spent the weekend at Fibrefest International nearby in Abbotsford.

oh my.

i nearly fell off the wagon with all the gorgeous yummy rovings and toys [i keep telling myself, i am not getting into spinning, there simply is not enough time in the day for that, too... sigh]… but i didn’t. pretty proud of myself… but i did fall in love with the Ashford Knitter’s Loom… it’s on the list. ;)

and i came home with a few gobs of nifty stuff:

gooey yarn

on the right is Handmaiden Ottawa (which is already being swatched for a pattern). i just love how organic it is. and the colouring is just too amazing for words… limes and lemons and pastachio and watermelon with a touch of watery blue and grass. yum.

left is a neat something from Laura Fry Studios (Prince George). it’s hand-painted regenerated wood yarn, beech wood she said… tencel, feels very silky. it’s going to be worked into a shawl; since it’s 2/8, it will be combined with another something. the colours are not very visible here, but there are terra cottas, marine blues, greens and some greens, tans and wines. mmmm…

also picked up some undyed from Jane Stafford Textiles to play with, some merino and some silk. all in all i was pretty well-behaved. :) and i met lots of fun folks and really appreciated the interest in my work.

so now, i’m back at it… mondo patterns to get off the press and, as always, new projects on the needles. :)

i like weeks that begin this way. :) (even if those darn Canucks lost yesterday… sigh). good thing baseball starts this week. ;)
