closing ceremonies…

well, despite lots of distractions and general obligations (extended family visiting = lots of shopping and cooking and yakking, getting a cold, kids got colds, and obligatory work, + working on a few things for clients and another project i’ve been meaning to get to for months — a little hat for Sam which didn’t work out in the end, but i tried) i managed to finish Eris, with time to spare. :) sewed in the zipper last evening. i was pretty freaked after last post, realizing the collar was just the beginning…

it’s beautiful. i love it. and Jenna’s construction is cunning and crafty… while you’re working, you know exactly where you are in the garment (even if you don’t quite know just what that purl stitch is for), and the details and thoughtfulness she’s built into this sweater are tops. i really enjoyed working on it, and i would love to make it again, if i can ever squeeze it into the usually packed schedule.

my camera was farting this morning and the batteries were tired so i don’t have any great photos (and the lighting in this house leaves a lot to be desired)… the one i have is slightly blurry, but it’s evidence of completion. yay

hoping to have a few better pics once the batteries are recharged.

the whole Olympic knitting experience has been fabulous, i’ve loved watching how everyone’s projects were coming along, and it’s also been amazing to be part of a ‘team’ over 4000 strong. who would have thought, eh?

sending ‘you can do it’ finishing vibes out to our awesome Olympic leader, ms. Stephanie

i’m off to watch the closing ceremonies, wearing Eris. :)

olympic knitting :)

not too much progress, yet… must get butt in gear! but i am enjoying the fellowship and following fellow knitting Olympians, both Canadian and those participating from all over the globe. :) we rock

i am about 75% finished the collar charts for Eris (cardigan version). this is such an awesome pattern, amazing design and execution, and the information Jenna provides in her patterns is all-encompassing. :) the pattern is both challenging and refreshing… i can’t stop looking at things as they come together.

i have been wanting to make this for quite a while, but have put it off due to the usual everyday things which take priority; but i decided this was a great opportunity to finally put it on the needles, and hopefully wear it by the end of the month.

and here’s a closeup of the yummy cable-work:

anyways, hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics. :) i thought the opening ceremonies were the best i’ve seen… just so many little intricate unique details presented.

best of luck to everyone participating in the knitting version. :) i hope to get around to visit some of your blogs/sites over the next few weeks.

gee… me, cynical? nah…

nothing surprises me anymore. i think i can firmly state that without
any inhibition.

over thisweek i’ve been rolling my eyes toward the heavensjust a
bit more than normally…

Stephen Harper picks his cabinet. whoo [insert raspberry here].
and considering the loudly obnoxious griping during the election campaign about
‘accountability’ and ‘democratic reform’from his lips he insists he is
doing good for Canada, after one Liberal walks his newly elected rear-end across
the floor so he can post ‘Right Hon.’ in front of his name rather than support
his consituents from his elected Liberal seat. right on… NOT. then
we find another MP in cabinet who was not evenelected, not to any seat
whatsoever, but now holds a nifty high-profile portfolio. gee, maybe
i’ll call up Harper and let him know i’d like a cabinet post. i wonder
what how much it would cost me. gee, tho, i don’t know if i could stand
licking shoes…

what a bunch of arrogantdumbasses.

and i wonder why Canadians find politicians a bit unethical?

i guess things haven’t changed much since i graduated from university just
prior to an 8-year long recession, quite certainly influenced by Brian
Mulroney. jobs which required you to ask about ‘fries with that’were
not even available since university grads were technically over-educated for
such positions… left quite a yukky taste in my mouth forConservative
government style and i guess i won’t be changing my opinion any time soon.

and, on another note, we have allegations of gambling in the NHL…
nice. what on earth will kids have to look up to? sheesh. ‘oh
yeah, i really liked him as a hockey player, but then he went to jail so i don’t
know what to think…’ geez. i’m waiting to see if any referees are
involved. that would really ice the cake. but considering the usual
media-control dogs areout there, a good chunk of information related
tothis, i think, is going to be brushed under the rug and we probably
won’t know really what happened… translate: ‘i’ll pay you to let me plead
quietly guilty if you promise to make it look like i was not ever
involved.’ we’ll see, i guess. i won’t be surprised.

HOWever! :)

ontoless grumpily postings…

Jaywalkers… done like dindin. yay. :)

still a bit wrinkly, i haven’t blocked them yet cuz they’ve been on my
feet. :)

and i’m working on so many other things at the moment i can barely keep track
of everything…

but here is a peek at a project based around hand-painted yummy yarn:

also working hard to get the Oceanwind
Knits
shop online… it’s coming along. :) i’m so
excited.

okie, back underground now. ;) gotta get lots done today because
tomorrow, the href="http://teamcanada2006.blogspot.com/" target="_blank" class="normal">olympicsare on.
yay. :) hoping to meet lots of you who are involved. :)
good luck, everyone with your projects. :)
