… of a green… xmas…..

wait, wait, i’m not dreaming… sigh.

well as much as i gripe about the white stuff (and really, i shouldn’t — except that no one out here has enough experience in snow driving to drive in it so i am usually too scared to even go the few blocks to Esso if there is a cm of it on the ground lol — all things considered out here in this part of BC, for the amount of it we do get, it’s not worth griping too loudly about and i’m sure if it comes i’m going to be kicking myself for typing this :P) it is nice to have a change of scene now and again from the wet pavement and muck we typically see here in the winter. ah well, we get what we get, weatherwise, eh?

on the knitting front… mucho progress since my last post, with quite a few FO’s off to their new homes.

gave up on the shawl (yes i do get a wee bit overzealous from time to time hoping against all reality that something will materialize that realistically, won’t) … it’s now a work in progress for a future gift.

the Tweed scarf is nearly completo, felted bags felted (one that never even made preliminary STBFO pics, but i have a pic of the completed bag to come) and sent off. the Cecilia concoction is concocted and well on its way… Mirage scarf kinda sittin’ there but it won’t take much time to finish it off… and i started a new design tonight (just because i needed to do something other than the knitted gift thing), a bicoloured brioche toque which i am really excited about. :)

anyhoo, that’s about the extent of knitted things for the moment. in the kitchen, mondo progress: hello dollies (kind of a Weppler tradition or something, although they are still not anywhere nearly as good as my mom’s … she had some trick i’m sure i never learned but i will keep trying ;)), sugar cookie trees (which were not quite up to par due to dampness in the air (i think; that’s where i’m going with this, regardless lol) and not quite enough flour, so they’re a bit poofy, but they’re edible. ;) and some fudge… which if i make again i’m going to up the cream and down the sugar, but it’s yummy, in any event. tomorrow, it’s ‘poop balls’ (as my ten-yearold likes to call them… nice eh? what can i say, he’s a boy :P), AKA ginger snaps (my personal favourite)… and that should feed us well into the new year.

shopping is nearly completo, then it’s wrapping time (not my particular favourite activity). i am very excited about the gifts i’ve gotten for my family this year, and i’m really looking forward to giving them.

gonna do up a bird on Sunday, have a gourmet-type sitdown meal with mr Bear and the boys, should be nice. :)

sigh… now about those Canucks… wishing them more positive energy for Friday! lotsa goals tonight; that was, at least, fun. too many in our net tho. shucks.
